The other two shows that make up the review are valuable traces that lead us in opposite ways to search for depths in the folds of history. Mio padre. Appunti sulla guerra civile is the story of a son, Andrea Pennacchi, who wakes up one day without a father who used to help him sort and put things in order, a father about whose past he knows little. So he sets out in search of what was before his birth, the partisan war, the imprisonment, the journey back to a war-torn Italy. The horizon widens in space and time, in a choral swirl through the centuries, with The Angel of History by Subterranean. Walter Benjamin’s image of an angel flying with his gaze turned to the past, with his back to the future, becomes a suggestion of a crossing of historical moments, encounters, seemingly unconnected to each other but with a single denominator: the power of storytelling as the founding and necessary element from always and forever of humanity.
