Now in its sixth edition, Ensemble Locatelli’s Concert Season lands permanently in the Donizetti Theater in 2024, being hosted by the Donizetti Theater Foundation for as many as 7 of the 8 concerts planned.
In the previous years, the level of performances has risen steadily and regularly, leading Ensemble Locatelli to be recognized at the European level as one of the most promising ensembles. Contextually, conspicuous recording activity has helped to establish Ensemble Locatelli firmly on the international scene.
Believing strongly in the need to root its intervention in the territory to which it belongs, the Cultural Association of the same name has organized since 2019 a review on Bergamo city soil dedicated to early music. This review has been the forge and workshop that forged Ensemble Locatelli, and the testimony of a strong bond with its city. Over the years, prestigious soloists and conductors have been invited, and the number and caliber of concerts has gradually increased, as has audience affection and press attention. Winking at the repertoire loved by the general public, but with the desire to guide enthusiasts to the discovery of rarer gems, the Season is divided into 8 deeply different appointments thanks to the variety of ensembles contained within Ensemble Locatelli, starting with Ensemble Vocale Locatelli, a newborn singing ensemble that will flank the Ensemble Strumentale in the years to come, opening up a vast slice of repertoire to public discovery. Great classics and unpublished pages, chamber music concerts, instrumental pages and vocal concerts will find their place in the programming offering a true baroque kaleidoscope of the music of the past, aiming both to exalt art as such and to pose as food for thought the great themes of current events such as the dualism war-peace and how man’s relationship with nature. Spread across three locations (plus one outside the collaboration with the Donizetti Theater Foundation), the review will bring Ensemble Locatelli to the stages of the Teatro Sociale, the Gavazzeni Reduced of the Donizetti Theater and the Tremaglia Room of the Donizetti Theater.

COVID-19 STOPS SUBSCRIPTION THEATER SEASON

As a result of the continuing health emergency caused by the spread of Covid-19, which currently calls for the closure of performance venues to the public, and the uncertainty of when the theaters may reopen, the Fondazione Teatro Donizetti is forced to reschedule its 2020/2021 Theater Season programs and consequently cancel the related season ticket campaign.

With subscriptions for the 2020/2021 Season suspended, the subscription campaign will resume in the following Season, 2021/2022, keeping the subscriptions from the last Season staged valid.

The Foundation is already working to think about new programming that will not include season tickets, but only the sale of individual tickets for each of the dates on the calendar, will be presented as soon as the situation allows for planning in serenity and in full compliance with current health protocols.
