AROUND BERGAMO JAZZ
Interweaving with film, photography and dance
Bergamo Jazz intertwines with other arts giving rise to interdisciplinary events that, while taking into account the specificities of language, encourage an exchange of expressive experiences. Particularly significant will be the passing of the baton with another international festival in the City, Bergamo Film Meeting.
Still on the subject of jazz and cinema, there will be a screening of Lovano Supreme, a heartfelt tribute to the Artistic Director of Bergamo Jazz signed by Franco Maresco. For photography, the spaces of the Donizetti Studio will host, from March 19 to 24, a selection of images made by Fabio Gamba from Bergamo, who passed away last year, and brought together under the evocative title Another Kind of Blue. The combination of contemporary dance and jazz will then be at the center of the performance Mercury conceived by choreographer and dancer Luna Cenere and saxophonist and composer Antonio Raia, whose national premiere will take place on June 14 (Monastero del Carmine) as part of the Festival Danza Estate. Let’s meet jazz
Also this year CDpM Europe proposes as part of Bergamo Jazz a series of meetings aimed at primary and secondary school students, scheduled at the Auditorium in Piazza della Libertà, with the aim of bringing the younger generations closer to a music rich in history and content, which is jazz.
International Jazz Day
On Tuesday, April 30, Bergamo Jazz will celebrate International Jazz Day with an extraordinary event on the Walls of Bergamo, a UNESCO-protected property that has sponsored International Jazz Day itself since 2011. At sunset, in a location that will be revealed only after the concert, pianist Simone Graziano will accompany the setting of the sun by letting his improvisational flair flow. It is an event that underscores the sharing values of jazz and further testifies to Bergamo Jazz Festival’s connection with its local area.
