Mare Nostrum originated from the encounter between three strong personalities of European jazz: the Sardinian Paolo Fresu, a true poet of the trumpet and one of the most beloved Italian jazz musicians both at home and abroad; the French Richard Galliano, an extraordinary accordionist who has revolutionized the language of his instrument; and the Swedish Jan Lundgren, one of the most refined pianists in circulation. In the background is the Mediterranean, which has always been a crossroads of cultures, of ancient and modern stories, a symbol of dialogue between peoples, but also of terrible tragedies that one would like to leave behind but which are unfortunately still very current. The Mare Nostrum of Paolo Fresu, Richard Galliano, and Jan Lundgren is a sea of sounds, a utopia of beauty in which each of the three musicians reflects themselves, putting their respective wealth of experiences at the service of a common musical and poetic vision.
