With more than 50,000 spectators having already applauded the show in just the first three months of the 2024 tour, which started at the Vaccaj Theater in Tolentino, the “home” of Compagnia della Rancia, and a long collection of “sold out” performances and reruns added by popular demand, Grease is confirmed as the most beloved musical. With more than 50 performances and 21 cities already set until May 2024 to go wild with #greasemania, the new tour for the 2024/2025 season is already announcing new dates. The show by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, with direction by Saverio Marconi and associate direction by Mauro Simone, is an overwhelming party that ignites Italian audiences and has kicked off musical-mania by turning into a true “pop” phenomenon: an intergenerational cult hit that, after vastly exceeding 2.000,000 total viewers since its first debut, is renewed with each season, is more and more relevant, and is also beloved by new generations who identify with a timeless story of love and friendship with an inclusive message. The musical debuted on Broadway in 1971, the blockbuster film followed in 1978, establishing John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in the roles of the two leads, and more than 50 years later the electrifying energy continues to live on stages around the world: the teenage love between Danny and Sandy, which is born on “summer evenings” and resonates to the notes of the unmistakable soundtrack – including such unforgettable songs as Restiamo Insieme, Greased Lightnin and Sei perfetto per me, in the Italian version by Franco Travaglio and Michele Renzullo – to the rhythm of rock’n’roll. On stage, a tight-knit group of 18 young and talented performers who, through the languages of dance, singing and acting, give new light to characters who have become true generational icons: Sandy, with an angelic face and overwhelming voice; Danny, an irresistible heartthrob; Pink Ladies; T-Birds; the students of Rydell High School; and a very special rock angel. “It is always stimulating and fun to work with the cast,” stresses director Xavier Marconi.

in an atmosphere of great professionalism and new energy, in a continuous exchange. We approach each edition with the utmost seriousness to ensure the success of this show with Rancia’s “trademark” of these key words: quality, talent, emotions, involvement .” “Each production of Grease is an opportunity to introduce new directorial ideas, in consultation with the entire creative team and the performers on stage,” continues Associate Director Mauro Simone, ” to bring to the stage what is now a classic of musical theater, but one that remains open to ever new and topical cues and suggestions.” The highly trained cast worked intensively with choreographer Gillian Bruce, who “tailor-made” the choreography for them, making it even more energetic and explosive. For the new costumes (more than 80), an explosion of colors and iridescent fabrics, costume designer Chiara Donato relied on leading Italian theatrical tailors, The languages of dance, singing and acting integrate perfectly with the set design, by Gabriele Moreschi; the creative team also includes Valerio Tiberi, who signs the colorful lighting design together with Emanuele Agliati and in collaboration with Francesco Vignati, which emphasize the most explosive moments as well as the most intimate atmospheres; the musical aspects are taken care of by Enrico Porcelli for sound design, Gianluca Sticotti for musical direction and vocal arrangements, Riccardo Di Paola for arrangements and orchestrations.
