«The faith of women
is like the Arabian phoenix:
everyone says it exists;
where it is, no one knows».

Is fidelity in love achievable? Does a genuine and satisfying monogamy exist, or is it just a concept of emotional relativity? Così fan tutte (1790), the female (or anti-feminist, depending on the point of view) piece of the Mozart-Da Ponte trilogy, lives on such questions. With Medea (Luigi Cherubini, 1797) everything seems to have changed: betrayed love becomes revenge, to produce the most intolerable pain. The Elixir of Love (Donizetti, 1832) proposes a “fairy tale”, in which good ultimately triumphs after being put to the test, but it is precisely through the test that the true nature of people emerges and feelings mature.

The Gruppo Fiati Musica Aperta, founded in 1976 by Pieralberto Cattaneo, has been a guest of important Italian concert seasons, gaining appreciation in numerous tours in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Yugoslavia, Malta, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, USA, and Brazil. It has recorded an LP of unpublished sacred and chamber music by G. Donizetti and G.S. Mayr. It also operates in the field of contemporary music, with world premieres in concerts repeatedly broadcast by RadioTre and German radios, and in two CDs recorded for TGE.
