CANTIERE TEATRO
The Donizetti Theatre Foundation aims to promote a strong civic sense that aims to put the need for education in theatrical culture at the center along with quality. This mission must be combined with the goal of reaching ever new audiences, particularly young people, to whom it gives tools for reading the theatrical experience.
PROPOSALS FOR THE 2021/2022 SEASON:
meetings in schools and in-depth paths
The Donizetti Theater Foundation’s drama section has always stood out for the care given to educational projects aimed at schools, young people and its audiences. After the time of forced hiatus, due to the health emergency related to the Covid-19 pandemic, it has chosen to resume with a wide variety of proposals and a new flexibility in the modes of intervention, in order to meet the different needs of schools and audiences. On the one hand, the meetings accompanying the viewing of the classical texts in the playbill, particularly Shakespeare and Goldoni, continue, aimed at providing keys to interpreting the staging in order to allow children to go through the dramaturgy starting from their own experience and offering them the opportunity to compare different directions of the same text before viewing the show. On the other hand, the choice is continued to emphasize the value and strength that theater has towards a civil community as a place of confrontation on contemporary issues. Conversely, emphasizing the importance of the topics covered allows us to analyze, deepen, and understand the language of theater in its different forms and in the poetics of different artists. We have chosen, this year, to focus our attention on some specific strands, such as new dramaturgy, the link with history, reflection on issues of justice and the role of women in civil society. It remains the idea that the viewing of each play can become an important experience for your students both with respect to the themes covered and with respect to the encounter with different expressive poetics. For this reason, we re-propose thesubscription Altri Percorsi as a means of making a diversified journey on drama theater. We would then like to point out the meetings with the artists as a privileged moment of direct confrontation with the protagonists.

THEATRICAL AND TECHNICAL WORKSHOPS
Specific projects aimed at young people between 18 and 26 years old
– Progetto Young –
After a three-year hiatus-first because of the lack of a venue due to renovations at the Donizetti Theater and then because of the stop imposed by the pandemic-Progetto Young, a training workshop for young actors, actresses and dramaturgs, returns. Strongly desired by Maria Grazia Panigada, who considers it an integral part of the prose theater promotion activities curated by the Donizetti Theater Foundation, with the expert direction of Fabio Comana for the path dedicated to actor training and Laura Curino for the one dedicated to playwriting, the workshop is aimed at young people between the ages of 18 and 26, with at least 3 years’ experience in basic theater training. There is no registration fee for participation. The shared goal is not only to help start young people on an advanced acting path, but also and above all to encourage a vision as open to the future of theatrical art as possible. In other words, it is not a matter of transmitting an already codified and pre-established idea of theater, but rather of providing a series of elements so that everyone can invent and experiment with his or her own idea of theater: an indispensable condition for the renewal of languages and the evolution of a theater capable of speaking to this ever-changing society. Following the positive experience of the past years, where the group questioned the fundamentals of theater, it was decided to propose a further level of in-depth study, creating two parallel and complementary paths of study. On the one hand, a dramaturgy workshop, reserved for a small, carefully selected group, inspired by the figure of the “dramaturg,” which will lead to the creation of a research environment that interacts closely with the rehearsal room, not just a collection of playwrights. At the same time and necessarily, a small formation of actors and actresses will take hold, whose task will be to stage the ideas matured in the directing and dramaturgy group, lending body and voice but also their own intelligence and critical spirit, in the belief that theater is a collective art that thrives on confrontation and teamwork. The project will be coordinated by director Fabio Comana, founder of the Erbamil Company.
– Stage technical workshop –
The Donizetti Theater Foundation chooses to enhance theater workers to bring young people closer to the live performance professions, providing them with the skills to manage small theaters. The courses in question will consist of a theoretical part with reference to the notions of lighting engineering, audio, and stage machinery, and, above all, a practical part, so as to bring the student directly acquainted with the tools made available and to interact with them directly and independently. The course will be a basic level, suitable for those who have no experience or want to deepen the basics, and will be divided into 3 separate modules:
- PHONE
- LIGHTING TECHNICIAN
- MACHINIST
It will be possible to enroll in only one of the three modules or in the full course.
Each module will last 10 hours, divided into 5 meetings of 2 hours each on a weekly basis. Participation is free of charge.
