LET’S MEET JAZZ: Everybody wants to do jazz
24 March| Ora 09:30
Lecture-concert aimed at primary school students
EVERYBODY WANTS TO DO JAZZ
The session introduces primary school students to the basic concepts of jazz improvisation through vocality and rhythm. The repertoire includes jazz and gospel classics such as “Amazing Grace”, “When the Saints Go Marchin’ In”, Disney repertoire songs like “Cruella De Vil”, and Duke Ellington compositions such as “Come Sunday”. Boys and girls are involved in instrumental performances with some melodic riffs executed according to the call and response technique and some rhythmic claves that are incorporated into the instrumental and choral arrangement proposed on stage. The scores and arrangements, specifically created for school ensembles, are distributed to teachers to be used as teaching material in the classroom
